Are dietary restrictions more important to patients than pill burden?

Dr. Kwakwa (OC): I would say for many of my patients, pill burden is more important, with dietary restrictions a close second.

Dr. Wohlfeiler (OC): That's a tough question. I think that there are even studies that have looked at that. Physicians think that pill burden is a bigger issue than it turns out that it really is when you talk to patients.

So I think that we have our own ideas as to what might be issues with patient adherence. But I just don't think we're always correct, especially when it comes to deciding what's more important, bill burden or food restrictions or dosing frequency, things like that.
